August is National Wellness Month

“Why get married?” August is National Wellness Month!

And the absolute best thing we can so is to -honestly contemplate whether you should get married or not?
Why? Why you think to yourself?
ALL I hear about are horrible marriage!
Because people who have been hurt are speak loudly!
And miserableness is click bait….
But What is the ACTUAL truth about wellness and marriage?

Today were just going to talk about WELLNESS.

The 5 C’s of Wellness are: Connection, Caring, Coping, Community, Compassion
and “How a Healthy Marriage” produces all 5 of these wellness qualities.

Connection: Marriage offers a built in connection with your spouse. The two become one! You are sharing your life, your bed and every other part of your life with someone. This brings with it a strong connection that we as people need to thrive! We need to be connected with another people for our well being.
-There is a loneliness epidemic (which is equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day!)
And a healthy marriage is the antidote to this!

Caring: A healthy marriage is always being concerned about your spouses physical, emotional, spiritual and financial well being! Through attention, encouragement and affection spouses offer practical help with faithful attention which communicates that you care if your spouse is hungry, upset, hurt or has a problem. You are in it together. You are concerned with each others daily needs and offer your part in its solution.

Coping: Life brings with it -disappointments, loss, and changes we don’t often like! However a healthy marriage helps couples to share in these naturally occurring circumstances. Married couples talk and process and share the burden of them so they are not so heavy.

Believe it or not a Healthy Marriage is the #1 (thing) that helps us as people COPE with Life!
Married people have much better mental health than unmarried people do. Married people have lower depression, anxiety and less stress. Marriage creates a sense of emotional security, which helps us cope with life.

Community: Marriage is the foundation of a meaningful community. Marriage is a place of belonging, with shared values extended family and friendships which encourage and help solve life’s problems. We also dream and build and grow in ways in which we would not have unless we had each other!

Compassion: In Marriage we learn “it is better to give than to receive.” We extend patience and kindness and understanding toward each other in ways we don’t with any one else -especially during difficult seasons.

Compassion says, “I see that you are struggling and I chose to help”.
Compassion says you are heating, “let me heal”.
Compassion says, “You don’t have to carry all of your burdens alone – I will carry them with you.”
